Part 1: Introduction & Interview
Q. 1. Are you working or studying?
Answer: Currently, I am working as an Assistant Project Manager for a renowned IT firm in my country.
Q. 2. How long have you been working for this company?
Answer: I have been working for this company (IT firm) for almost 3 years and enjoying it a lot. Initially, I started working as a Junior Executive for this company and then I got promoted to the current position.
Q. 3. What are your job responsibilities?
Answer: At my current job, my primary responsibilities include supervising a group of talented software developers in order to facilitate their day to day operations. I am also responsible for communicating with the clients in order to update them about the progress of the work while also gathering important project requirements from them. From time to time, I debug some of the programming codes that my team members write and collaborate with the "testing" team to address bugs and issues with the software and web applications.
Q. 4. What do you like about the work you do?
Answer: The best thing, which I really like about my current job, is that it allows me to interact with a group of talented professionals from who I can always learn some new things about the trends in the information technology field. I also like this job because it allows me to be flexible with my work schedule. Finally, whenever we deliver an important project to the client, I feel excited about the achievement.
Q. 5. What do you want to change or improve in it?
Answer: I would love to do a couple of things in order to improve the performance of my job and those of my fellow employees. First, I would like to create some scope for relaxation at the office, such as having a gym or game centre where employees could enjoy some light moments. Secondly, I would like to make work hours shorter so that staffs could spend more time with their families and friends.
Part 3 - Details Discussion:
Q. 1. Do you think job satisfaction is more important than salary when choosing a job?
Answer: Yes, I do think that job satisfaction is more important than the salary package when choosing a job because, without job satisfaction, there just may not be enough motivation to do the job effectively and efficiently. Besides, without enough job satisfaction, employees would not be able to become creative enough and confident in order to have a competitive edge for their employers over their competitors in the long run. Finally, without contentment in a job, it is very difficult to be happy and satisfied in personal life as well.
Q. 2. What skills do you think are needed to get a good job these days?
Answer: First, of course, the relevant education and professional skills and expertise, which directly affect the level of performance of jobs, are required to get a good job these days. But apart from that, one also needs good communication skills, time management skills, project management skills, effective teamwork skills, multi-tasking skills, prompt problem-solving skills, planning and organization skills and technological skills, among others skills, to secure a good job these days.
Q. 3. Do you think women should be able to do all the same jobs that men do?
Answer: Yes, I do believe that men and women are equally adept to do any job. Due to traditional belief, some people opine that women are not as good as men in some jobs, but that's just an old belief and hold no truth in this modern era where women have proven and are constantly proving that they are just as capable and skilled in doing any job that men are.
Alternative answer: No, I don’t think that women should be able to do all the same jobs that men do because men and women are different, at least, with the regards to their physical build. Women shouldn’t do jobs like construction or building machines, even though they may be just as capable as men, which involve risks and additional physical strength. Besides, women are more suitable for some jobs like in a hospital or in a university and they should go for such jobs that are not risky for them.
Q. 4. How has technology changed the way we work?
Answer: The technology has significantly changed the way we work. In fact, today, because of technological advancement, many robots are doing the same jobs, which were previously done by men, more quickly and efficiently. Besides, because of technology, today we don’t use paper documents that much because we can write and save the same documents on our computers. Finally, today, we don’t have to use postal mails in order to send some important documents, which could take days and sometimes even weeks to reach their recipients, as we are using the internet instead of sending the same in seconds. Finally, every office is far more automated due to the blessing of technology and we can have more works done per day than ever before.
Q. 5. What is the difference between white collar and blue collar jobs?
Answer: The most important difference between white collar and blue collars jobs is that blue collars jobs are primarily manual-labour oriented, which mainly exist open in the fields, factories, industries, different plants, and sites, while white collars jobs are mainly office-oriented where people usually remain in a closed office environment with the desks and chairs. Another difference is that blue collar jobs, depending, of course, on the employment types, aren’t always associated with the same kind of benefits and facilities as with the white collar jobs.
Q. 6. What jobs do you think are most valuable to society?
Answer: It depends on the society in which we live. For example, while the jobs of medical doctors, nurses, teachers, farmers, construction workers, garbage collectors and caregivers may be considered most important in my society, it may not be the same for other societies. Similarly, the jobs of a physicist, chemist, scientist and technologist may be considered to be most variable in other societies, but it may not be the same for the society in which I live. However, I would like to say that all kinds of jobs are very valuable for a given society because all of those jobs benefit the members of that society one way or another.
