Sample Answer 1: [Opinion: in favour of sharing as much information as possible with scientific studies, the academic arena, and businesses]
In this modern era, restricting information for the sake of public security and national importance seems irrational to many while others opine that information should be available only when the authority deems them suitable for access. Both views would be examined in this essay. I personally believe that scientific studies, the academic arena, and businesses can be greatly benefitted if the information is made open to them without restrictions.
The proponents of restricting sensitive information believe that unrestricted access to information could penetrate state security, lead to public outcry, hand over technologies to terrorists, and facilitate corporate monopoly. So information has to be properly scrutinized before making them public. In this digital era, information spread like wildfire and for the sake of maintaining global peace, it should be delimited, according to this group of people. For instance, if nuclear technology is shared with all nations for scientific studies, the world will soon stand on the verge of obliteration, despite the incredible possibility this technology possesses to facilitate the citizens' energy demands.
On the contrary, those who advocate for unobstructed access to information say that scientific research largely depends on available data and previous findings. If valuable information and past findings are not shared openly with academics and researchers, global progress will become a standstill. For instance, the Internet is probably the most significant invention the modern world has produced and if this technology had not been shared by the US military, we would still be living in the pre-internet era. Moreover, clandestine information has no value if it is not implemented in the real world and thus curbing them is like slaughtering the potential for progress. World history suggests that the human race has advanced due to discoveries and inventions shared with the world as each finding went through profound modification and advancement. I thus personally favour the ideology that supports "free information for all".
In conclusion, information has limited value when it is constrained and not shared with great minds. For true global progress, restrictions on valuable information should be debarred and let people know the truth instead of keeping them in the dark.
Sample Answer 2: [Opinion: some information is too important or too valuable to be shared freely]
Some people favour sharing information for research works, business development and academic needs without any filters or restrictions. Others, however, feel differently and opine that sensitive and valuable information should not be shared in any case. Both parties have their reasons, and this essay will examine both perspectives. I personally tend to believe that not all information should be shared freely, even for scientific, research and business purposes.
Those who support unrestrained access to all information say that when information is made available to organisations, scientists, researchers, and academics, they are best utilised. Since those people work to bring innovations, restricting them to access important information can hinder progress. For instance, if expert economists are denied access to the state's financial data, they would neither be able to guide the nation for a better financial future nor can alert the nation in case of an imminent financial crisis.
On the other hand, proponents of restricting access to important data believe that some information should never be shared because it can sometimes be catastrophic. For instance, if a state allows businesses to have unrestricted access to all the data related to citizens, the organisations would start violating citizens' privacy. They would start using the data for their business gains while also selling the data to other companies. Moreover, nations have intelligence and defence agencies, and if their findings are shared with academics and researchers, they would end up falling into the wrong hands and thus compromising the state's sovereignty and power of defence.
Considering all these aspects, I believe that a state should share information that can bring innovation and help the nation progress, and at the same time, make some data restricted so that bad people do not have access to such critical and sensitive data.
In conclusion, information is immensely important when they are properly utilised and could also be destructive if they are misused by the wrong people. This is why the information should be shared for the betterment of the nation but some sensitive data should never be made restricted.
Sample Answer 3: [Opinion: important sectors in a country should have unrestricted access to important and useful data]
Some people advocate for making all information available in science, business, engineering and research as they believe that sharing information in such fields to the fullest extent possible will ultimately benefit society. Others, however, think that some information and state secrets are too sensitive to be shared freely. This essay explores both perspectives. In my opinion, important sectors in a country should have unrestricted access to valuable data.
On the one hand, those who are against sharing all information freely, consider the sensitivity of the information in question. Intellectual property rights are an important consideration here, as inventors and researchers invest both their knowledge and significant amounts of money to achieve their goals. Publishing their findings can prevent them from fully reaping the rewards of their hard work. A good example is "Apple Inc." which invented different ingenious technological devices, and if the research data were published, it would not be able to earn profits as there would be competitors who would use the findings and compete in the market. Similarly, state agencies should not allow third parties to access their data as it may put the country's freedom in danger.
On the other hand, the supporters of making information freely accessible for science, trade and academic purposes assert that it brings innovation and development to a nation. By sharing new findings and useful data, society can progress and prosper faster. For example, after the discovery of the first antibacterial drug was made public, it allowed the entire world to benefit from its use as an effective medication against infectious diseases. Additionally, sharing valuable and meaningful information can lead to collaboration and progress in research, as well as the development of new technologies and products for a nation. It is also apparent that a society, where people have limited access to information, is less likely to become pioneers in technology, invention and research.
In conclusion, even though it is important to appreciate the rights of individuals and businesses to protect their intellectual property, the progress and prosperity of a nation should get more priority, and ultimately, the sharing of information can lead to greater advancements and benefits for all.
Model Answer 4: [Opinion: in favour of sharing as much infomation as possible.]
In today's world, information is a powerful tool that drives innovation, research, business, trade, and academic progress. While some people believe that certain information should be kept confidential or hidden from all, I firmly believe that it is important to share as much information as possible with substantial sectors like scientific research, business, and the academic world. This essay attempts to discuss both views first, and then explain the reason behind my view.
Those who oppose the idea of sharing information without any restrictions say that granting unrestricted access to all sensitive information can have catastrophic consequences. It can lead to a breach of national security, privacy and trade secrets. This can have such a severe outcome that the government may collapse. Such unrestricted access to valuable information can compromise the nation's ability to protect it from terrorist attacks and keep reaping benefits from research and manufacturing work.
Those who advocate for sharing as much information as possible opine that it leads to greater innovation and progress. When researchers and scientists share their findings and discoveries, other experts in the field can advance their work. This leads to a faster and more efficient pace of progress, which benefits society as a whole. For example, the discovery of the structure of DNA by James Watson and Francis Crick in 1953 revolutionized the field of genetics and has led to countless breakthroughs in medical research, all because they freely shared their findings. Sharing information is important also because it promotes transparency and honesty. In the business world, companies that are open and honest about their practices and products are more likely to build trust with their customers and gain a positive reputation. This is because people appreciate transparency and want to know what they are investing in or buying. For instance, Tesla's decision to make its electric car patents available for free to anyone who wants to use them has led to an increase in the number of electric cars on the market, ultimately helping to reduce carbon emissions and protect the environment.
In conclusion, it is important to share as much information as possible in scientific research, business, and the academic world. Sharing information promotes innovation, transparency, and the democratization of knowledge, ultimately leading to a more prosperous and equitable society.
Sample Answer 5: [Opinion: some information is too important or too valuable to be shared freely]
Information has been an essential component of human society, from scientific research to business and academic circles. While some individuals believe that sharing information is crucial, others think that some specific details and facts must not be shared due to their sensitivity or significance. In this essay, I will discuss both views and provide my opinion that all information should not be shared freely.
Those who advocate for the free exchange of information believe that it can result in significant advancements in various fields. When scientists share their research findings, for example, it can lead to new discoveries, leading to improved technology and quality of life. Additionally, sharing information can lead to increased transparency and accountability in business and governance, reducing the risk of corruption and fraud.
On the other hand, others argue that certain information is too valuable or sensitive to be freely available to all. This information may include trade secrets, confidential data, and national security information. When such information is shared, it may fall into the wrong hands and be used for malicious purposes, such as industrial espionage or terrorism. Furthermore, some individuals believe that the monetization of information is essential for encouraging innovation and development. Companies invest considerable resources in research and development, and sharing their findings without adequate compensation can discourage investment and slow down progress. This view is particularly prevalent in industries such as pharmaceuticals, where patents and exclusive rights can be crucial for incentivizing innovation.
While some individuals believe that sharing information freely can lead to significant progress and innovation, I believe that in certain cases, such as national security or confidential information, limited access is necessary.
In conclusion, when sharing information may posses risks and trade loss, a restriction should be imposed on that practice. This way, business would flourish and more research work would be done. Moreover, state secrets should be guarded vigilantly as they may bring catastrophe if mishandled or used by corrupted people.
To commence with, due to innovation and knowledge sharing, many people and countries are progressing faster than others. This amplifies the need to share knowledge and information in research, business, technology and so on. Those innovations and ideas people are receiving help us gain more insights, and expertise and build a better future. For instance, the internet, is supposedly, was invented by the US army; and unless the research was not shared by them or they only kept it within themselves, we would not have gotten a chance to use this most wonderful invention of modern time.
On the other hand, some information is too risky and valuable to be shared publicly. Sometimes it may create confusion, problem, and chaos. For instance, if terrorists get information about the process of nuclear bomb-making, then they can use this technique and idea to kill people and destroy cities. Thus some information, which is primarily related to too much sensitive technology and weapon of mass destruction, or information that are related to the sovereignty of a nation, should be safeguarded and not shared publicly.
To conclude, research, ideas, and knowledge should be shared so that we can progress as a nation and civilisation. However, if sharing a particular technology poses risks to human lives and impacts our society negatively, it should not be shared will all.
On the one hand, sharing pivotal facts and recent discoveries in science and technology with others could be dangerous for the most vulnerable parts of our society and could ruin the global economy. Some of the important facts and discoveries could be misused by the officials of rival countries. Moreover, some terrorist organizations could use the recent investigations to create high-tech weapons or biological tools to eradicate certain nations from the world. To illustrate, if nuclear technology is publicly shared, terrorist organisations will own them and create weapons of mass destruction.
Nevertheless, some information is necessary to the society's development and a vast amount of the past and current investigations made by the scientists who shared and successfully collaborated with both local and overseas experts in various areas are needed for future development. For example, the latest vaccine against Covid-19 was created by a large group of different specialists, who by joint efforts and equal academic contributions, designed an effective vaccine in just 11 months to save the life of millions all around the world. It exemplifies how shared knowledge can save our life.
In conclusion, some rare instances aside, the top-secret information and key investigations must be covered and kept protected for the overall benefit of the world.
Some people believe that it is good to share as much information as possible in scientific research, business and the academic world. Others believe that some information is too important or too valuable to be shared freely.
Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Sample Essay:
In general, sharing information is essential in any aspect of life, and many people contend that it needs to be circulated across all spheres actively. However, some people argue that not all information can be freely distributed due to its value, sensitivity and importance. In this essay, I will try to weigh both of these options. However, I believe that it should be determined based on the type of information we are talking about.
Whether information should be freely disseminated or guarded strictly, depends on its nature. For instance, knowledge in the academic world must be open to everyone and easily accessible. School children and students must enjoy the benefits of open information to attain knowledge and professional qualifications. A similar approach applies to science and business, where learning from the experiences of previous generations and successful entrepreneurs will benefit the prosperity of the society at large and ultimately the whole world.
Alternatively, more careful consideration should be given to the information that can potentially harm the emotional and physical well-being of people and have negative impacts on social stability and peace. Such risks can occur on scales that go beyond just one society or country and affect the whole world. A vivid example can be observed with the current worldwide controversies regarding vaccination and different vaccines, which eventually mislead and confuse whole countries thus preventing them from taking timely measures to protect their populations. Likewise, it can pose a significant danger if scientific data such as the information on nuclear weapons, hazardous substances or chemicals are possessed by the wrong people or groups.
To conclude, whether it is good to share as much information as possible depends on the nature of it. The knowledge that is beneficial to people and mankind at large should be disseminated freely whereas the information that poses threat to people, society and the world must be handled with caution and consideration.
It is not a secret that two heads are better than one. In the same way, the collaboration of all well-educated people and freely accessible information give more chance for scientific discoveries by solving serious problems. One key benefit is the economic approach by creating a new type of ideas and solutions. This can lead to increasing idea through people and engaging more people to solve problems. Wikipedia, for example, is a collection of data contributed by all and freely accessible by all. Furthermore, it has given a platform for sharing information through the internet and became a new kind of trend. Had the initiate to make it open for all was not taken, it could never have been useful for all.
However, some negative aspects of sharing information freely must be considered. One important issue is to prevent terrorists from getting sensitive information that can lead to the loss of human life or destruction of property. Ill motives to create a monopoly in business or creating artificial market demands by gaining secret information should also be prevented. Finally, businesses must not share their client information due to privacy concern.
In conclusion, information has more benefits and become more useful when they are shared and used for human progress. So it is expected that more information will be made publicly accessible except for those that might lead to catastrophe.
"shares" is wrong here, it should be "shared". "Shared openly to" is incorrect, instead it should be "shared openly with".
Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
Sharing information is the best way to enhance people’s knowledge in the education, research, and business sectors. However, certain sensitive information cannot be shared with all individuals. I personally believe that the general particulars can be open for all and sensitive data can be accessible by authorities. Both aspects will be discussed further.
To begin with the first situation, useful information related to study, research, health factors, innovation of new technology for daily needs and business data for the ordinary population should be freely accessible to all. For instance, the new course in school cannot be restricted, and it must be accessible for the student to learn. Moreover, the new policies or schemes for trade can be available for all businesses and finally, innovative ideas are always a mixture of a group of minds. If this kind of information is made available, it will enhance the knowledge of people while also helping mass people become informed citizens. So such types of common data must be free for all.
On the other hand, secret information such as the agreement between two nations, nuclear technology, currency printing, bank account details and so on are must be kept safe and secret. If they are made available publicly, nefarious actions by malicious people will hurt the state. For instance, if nuclear technology is handy for everyone, it will lead the world to stand on nuclear wars frequently. Some data are best kept away from ordinary citizens because it brings greater good. So sensitive information can be preserved and accessed only by the authority.
In conclusion, common information is always sharable with the public but the publication of important details should be controlled by the authority.
